Getmee.ai successfully closes VC-Led capital raise amidst challenging global funding landscape

Getmee.ai successfully closes VC-Led capital raise amidst challenging global funding landscape.

Melbourne, Australia- January 8,  2024

Getmee, an Australian Education AI technology startup, today announced the successful completion of a funding round. The capital raise was led by the Australian venture capital fund, Access Capital Ventures(ACV), with support also coming from long-standing customers and existing investors.

Against the backdrop of a challenging global funding environment, for early stage technology companies, Getmee demonstrated its ability to continue to build on its commercial success to date, and to advance its mission of advancing employability skills via on demand mobile coaching; all underpinned by patented AI technology.

In a year marked by significant commercial growth, the company has also continued to develop a world’s first AI-coaching product that is now in use across 16 countries. The Getmee product is accessible through a user-friendly mobile application, and larger enterprise customers have the option to white-label the product allowing them to stay on brand.

Getmee is the brain child of Balendran Thavarajah, who arrived in Australia with no English or any formal schooling from Northern Sri Lanka. Once in Australia, ‘Bala’ taught himself English and gained access to Western Sydney University to complete a computer science degree through an alternative pathways program. Bala has since founded three technology companies; most notably Bluedot, as their founding Chief Technology Officer.

Getmee’s AI solutions have been widely embraced by Government Immigration Services Agencies, Employment service providers, Universities, Education providers, and forward-thinking Enterprises. The company serves an impressive list of customers and partners both in Australia and internationally, including AMES Australia, VFS Global, MTC Australia, Story House Early Learning, Far Eastern University, ISBR Business School Bangalore, Language Advantage Inc., and Deakin University.

With rapid growth across the NFP Employment Services and Enterprise Talent Acquisition sectors, the company has experienced explosive demand for its English Communication and Interview skills coaching AI product.

Allan Aaron, one of the General Partners of ACV, who is joining the Getmee board, said, “Getmee’s highly differentiated and scalable AI platform is transformative. We are excited to back Getmee and its talented team. The AI innovation and founding principles of the company resonate with ACV’s investment ethos.“

The fresh capital injection will help with the delivery of the company’s product roadmap, and solidify its market presence in 2024. This funding round serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of both the Getmee team and its investors to drive innovation forward.

Balendran Thavarajah, Getmee’s CEO and Founder, said, “The funding and the experience of the ACV team brings, will allow us to support our growth. We look forward to achieving new milestones as we continue to push the boundaries of AI technology for communication skills coaching and reshape the industry landscape.”
